The Project
Australians live in fairyland and believe in or refute various
fairytales. This is made possible by the unique geographic,
historical and intellectual space of our country.
Fairytales in Fairyland explores this sense of space both physical
and conceptual in Australia. The space is abundant and has produced
many and varied outcomes in our society. This unique space is
expressed in the contemporary work by the artists of the North
Coast of New South Wales.
The focus on printmaking and ceramics for the project is in
recognition of the strength of practice in these fields by artists
in this area. The strength of these areas of practice has and
is supported through the tertiary institutions of the region
and the movement of artists into the area over the last 40 years.

Any
regional councils who may be interested, to provide a two-consecutive-day
Ukulele workshop (4 hours each day - a total of 8 hours per
group), to be run on a Saturday and Sunday. -
John Chandler.teaches ukulele at 13 different Adult Community
Colleges in and around Sydney, to groups of up to 15 people
each college, each term. This is in response to the current
huge resurgence of interest in the Ukulele worldwide, and with
Ukulele Clubs springing up all over Australia and the world.
I would like to offer my services to any regional councils who
may be interested, to provide a two-consecutive-day Ukulele
workshop (4 hours each day - a total of 8 hours per group),
to be run on a Saturday and Sunday. I have run such courses
in regional areas previously, including a recent one for the
Bourke Arts Council, with much success and students develop
a quick passion and excitement for the uke, once they realise
how quickly they are playing and having fun. It also promotes
good friendships amongst the students, who come from all walks
of life.
The Ukulele is quick to learn but has the potential for the
player to play sophisticated material from all genres, as it
is a legitimate instrument. It will allow people to explore
that up to now, unfulfilled musical interest that they may always
have had.
If you would like to talk to me further on this opportunity,
please return email me, or you may contact me on my mobile phone:
