v Special Community Support Exhibition by Solveig Larsen- Bellingen- 'Wall of Faces' - Presenting the human face of the Bellingen Community. The Bellingen Hospital is currently under threat of losing more services and ceasing to function as an independent hospital. The exhibition can be seen at the Bellingen Library in addition to posting "Face-Boards" around town. It can be seen as one walks into the Foyer of Bellingen Library. By photographing people in the street, or at community functions I can relate to them as individuals; speak to them about the concerns of the hospital, then put them onto a Board with other individuals who make up this rich, exciting and vivid community. This helps engender a sense of connection, as well as personal and community worth. The message is"Individuals Matter" and "People Matter" all of which is crucial to one of the key Life Structures of this community, our much loved Bellingen Hospital. It is hoped that people will feel the necessity to act and speak out on behalf of the Hospital as it fights for its survival. A Rally will be held on May 15th in support of the Hospital in Bellingen. v Any regional councils who may be interested, to provide a two-consecutive-day Ukulele workshop (4 hours each day - a total of 8 hours per group), to be run on a Saturday and Sunday. - John Chandler.teaches ukulele at 13 different Adult Community Colleges in and around Sydney, to groups of up to 15 people each college, each term. This is in response to the current huge resurgence of interest in the Ukulele worldwide, and with Ukulele Clubs springing up all over Australia and the world. I would like to offer my services to any regional councils who may be interested, to provide a two-consecutive-day Ukulele workshop (4 hours each day - a total of 8 hours per group), to be run on a Saturday and Sunday. I have run such courses in regional areas previously, including a recent one for the Bourke Arts Council, with much success and students develop a quick passion and excitement for the uke, once they realise how quickly they are playing and having fun. It also promotes good friendships amongst the students, who come from all walks of life.
The Ukulele is quick to learn but has the potential for the player to play sophisticated material from all genres, as it is a legitimate instrument. It will allow people to explore that up to now, unfulfilled musical interest that they may always have had.
If you would like to talk to me further on this opportunity, please return email me, or you may contact me on my mobile phone: 0425 332 601
